There has been a significant amount of "hype" surrounding the use of mobile devices in the financial services sector. Discovering what technologies are behind vendor offerings can be challenging. Macalla's Mobility architecture is somewhat unique in the financial services sector, since it utilizes the Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE) architecture and also supports the Microsoft.NET and SOAP platforms through the use of extensible markup language (XML). Macalla provides a platform for the development and deployment of mobile e-commerce applications. It provides the infrastructure required to deliver informational and transactional applications through a variety of devices. Software development kits (SDKs) allow the platform to communicate with the internal corporate systems of financial and other organizations, delivering information and transactions to a variety of mobile devices.
