  • To retain competitive parity, business managers directly engage IT and product providers to implement integrated IoT solutions, even without a business case or sourcing management support, limiting the ability of sourcing management to protect the business IP and address end-to-end integration, identity and security
  • To leverage the first-mover advantage, business managers rely on their IoT solution provider as the sole source of innovation, thereby ignoring the potential of internal and external communities that sourcing managers can organize to identify IoT use cases, increase value from existing IoT solutions and reduce dependencies on individual providers
