Impacts and Recommendations

  • Data in IoT solutions is often highly confidential and sensitive, requiring data and analytics leaders to ensure that privacy and security expectations are met and legal mandates are not violated
  • The scale and pace of data generated by "things" introduces integrity challenges and obviates traditional approaches that data and analytics leaders have used for data quality assurance
  • The highly distributed nature of IoT architectures challenges expectations on data availability, requiring data and analytics leaders to accept that purely centralized approaches to governance controls will become less viable
