Gartner Dataquest gives a snapshot of ISPs across the Asia/Pacific region (excluding Japan) at the end of 2000. After a slow start at embracing the Internet, some of the region's ISPs are achieving the sort of scale enjoyed by ISPs in the United States and Europe. There are nine ISPs in the region with revenue of more than US$100 million and 13 with more than 1 million subscribers. With the large Asian population and low Internet penetrations, it is likely that some of these ISPs will go on to be the largest in the world. Gartner Dataquest covers ISPs in South Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia and India. We rank the largest ISPs according to accounts, subscribers and revenue in all markets and also consolidate the numbers to give a regional picture.
