Impacts and Recommendations

  • The vote for Brexit is causing uncertainty and a dramatic decline in the exchange rate between the pound and other currencies, requiring telecom service negotiators to re-examine their current telecom contracts
  • Scenario No. 1: Brexit happens within two to three years, but the deal results in close ties with the EU, without telecom service negotiators needing to pursue much change in current networking and telecom arrangements
    • Networking
    • Roaming
  • Scenario No. 2: Brexit happens within two to three years, but with a bigger separation (such as a Canada-type deal) or even a WTO-level relationship, requiring telecom service negotiators to review and revise their telecom provider contracts for both jurisdictions and currencies
    • Networking
    • Roaming
  • Scenario No. 3: Brexit does not happen for five years or more, allowing telecom service providers to continue with "business as usual"
    • Fixed and Mobile Voice and Data Services
    • Roaming
