The General Data Protection Regulation will be enforced on 25 May 2018. Data and analytics leaders must urgently assess the impacts of this upon their information governance and MDM programs as the cumulative amount and sensitivity of personal data being processed makes for a high-risk environment.

  • Information governance and MDM programs that include personal data pertaining to EU residents must comply with the GDPR on or before 25 May 2018
  • Under the GDPR, data subjects have extended rights, so information governance and MDM programs may need to be updated to provide sufficient capability for these rights to be exercised
  • The GDPR will change the scope and definition of what is personal data and how the data can be used (as it relates to EU residents); organizations will have to demonstrate their accountability
