Although the concept of information protection for organizations has long existed, the corporate function of Information Security—responsible for information protection—continues to evolve or, in certain organizations, emerge. Information Security has shifted from a back-office technical shop that focuses on reducing risks to one that focuses on managing risks through security policies and business risk ownership support, while enabling the business to seek productivity opportunities.
