Summary

Contrary to what many PMOs think, external certification does not correlate with increased program manager performance. In fact, high-performing program managers are less likely to have formal certifications than their low-performing peers. External certifications focus too heavily on tenure and prioritize process mastery over the Entrepreneurial skills that drive business outcomes. This study will help you translate desired skills into assessment criteria, communicate the proficiency of high-performing program managers to stakeholders, and provide development opportunities for high-potential project managers.
