On-the-job learning can drive nearly three times more performance improvement than formal training approaches; however most information security functions fail to realize the full potential of on-the-job learning because employees aren't being exposed to the most valuable learning activities, and even when they are, they fail to identify and act on the lessons from those experiences. This guide enables CISOs and other managers in Information Security to help security staff gain more value from on-the-job learning experiences by engaging them in "learning forward" self-reflection exercises.
