The steering committee is one of the most important governing bodies in IT, but it is also one of the most difficult to run effectively. Many of the pain points in managing the steering committee are caused by the process by which projects are taken in, evaluated, and presented to the steering committee. Others are caused by lack of clarity in the purpose, responsibilities, and rules of engagement for the steering committee meetings.
