One in four decision makers don't use financial data; nearly half misinterpret it; and more than half 'cherry pick' the data to support their decision. Such misuse can cost companies as much as 1% of revenue per decision. Decision makers are partly to blame for lacking financial acumen, and so is the finance analytics team for not providing data suited to decision making today. Both groups need to play a role in fixing these behaviors: business leaders and the finance analytics team must collaborate more closely to ensure the data solve a shared business problem.
