Leading procurement organizations use an experience-weighted approach to manage their talent pipeline: (1) Define and weight important experiences that Procurement staff should undertake, in order to thrive in successive roles; (2) Track individual experience levels to ensure staff are given adequate opportunities to acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for successive roles; and (3) Drive staff advancement by identifying experience gaps and outlining the next two to three career experiences that can address such gaps.
