Build on demand management efforts by providing business partners with alternatives to consultants. Most firms do this by introducing two additional consulting options, interim managers and contractors. Depending on the engagement, these two additional options may prove to be more effective in meeting project needs than consultants. Clearly define role and skills for interim managers and contractors so that business partners understand the difference between consultants, and the alternative options. Figure 1 exemplifies the language that should be used to effectively differentiate the role and skills between consultants and interim managers
