Senior executive sponsorship facilitates business-driver collaboration. Getting an executive (e.g., business unit president, vice president, senior director) to sponsor a proposal is beneficial because it facilitates communication, drives ideas to implementation, ensures business relevance, and maintains the focus on results. To avoid program failures resulting from lack of oversight or leadership buy-in, BMS explicitly documents executive sponsors’ responsibilities and benefits.
