This summary contains input from fourteen members regarding their experiences with tracking IT appliances. We begin this summary by describing several processes and tools that members have adopted to track their IT appliances from procurement to decommissioning. Next, we explore members’ criteria for classifying their IT appliances and the rationale behind the classification. We close this summary by examining different practices that members follow to monitor and update the software on their appliances and highlight the criteria they use to decide whether an appliance requires disaster recovery capabilities.
