Many institutions face the uncertainty of having to provide continuity of instruction for several weeks or months in the face of the spread of the COVID-19 virus. This toolkit provides a set of tools to help higher education CIOs best plan for support their staff, instructors, faculty and students.
In the coming weeks and months, higher education institutions will have to continue to provide instruction in the face of the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Higher education CIOs can use the tools provided in this toolkit to develop a plan for supporting their faculty, staff and students during this time of uncertainty. Use this toolkit both for shifting instruction from a face-to-face to a remote modality, and for planning support for faculty and students who have had to make this shift.
The toolkit contains the following components. Some of these include links to resources and lists of resources. These will change over time, and we will update them on occasion as necessary.
The toolkit contains the following:
1.A general overview of what is entailed in instructional continuity and how you should approach it.
2. An overview of the kinds of technology you will need to provide to your instructors and students.
3. A worksheet that you can use to identify what loanable technology is available to your students and to help you make decisions about whether to increase those numbers and add new types of technology.
4. An instructional crosswalk to help you move particular types of instruction from an in-class mode to a remote mode, with additional suggestions about ways to do it in a lower bandwidth and/or more pedagogically sound manner.
5. A worksheet to help you plan for the types of technology and support you will need to provide given the types of instruction typically done at your institution.
