This Consult the Board survey summary features perspectives from 20 members regarding their experiences of deploying gig workers. It discusses the inclusion of gig workers in members’ IT organizations, the platforms to source them, and the primary reasons for not using them.
To what extent are members using gig workers, and how do they rate the benefits of using gig workers against the risks and challenges associated with this resource type?
Nearly one-third of the respondents (6 of 20, or 30%) use gig workers in their IT organizations.
Of these, half of the respondents (3 of 6) mention that the benefits of using gig workers “far outweigh the challenges” as employing gig workers leads to business agility.
Contrarily, most respondents (9 of 14) that do not use gig workers or used them in the past cite the challenges as “high effort required
