Overview
Key Findings
Most innovative products are offering a single platform for file and object services while differentiating with additional data services, such as analytics, cyberstorage capabilities, hardware life cycle management and data portability. However, whether a single product can implement both file and object services equally well remains to be seen.
Organizations are increasingly employing on-premises object storage for use cases such as analytics and cloud-native applications.
Traditional enterprise vendors are offering file services in the major public cloud IaaS providers to enable hybrid cloud workflows for unstructured data workloads. The adoption thus far has been nascent, but is growing.
