This Consult the Board survey summary features inputs from 16 Technology Infrastructure Research Board members regarding their approaches to selecting and distributing laptops and desktops for end users. It examines members’ user device-choice program and the associated aspects, including the device refresh cycle, build methodology for PCs, and accessory allocation methods.
What are members’ approaches for the selection and distribution of laptops and desktops to end users?
Slightly more than half of the respondents (9 of 16, or 56%) choose end-user devices for their employees based on the latter’s job roles.
Five (of 14) respondents each offer users a limited choice of up to three devices or a few choices of four to eight devices.
For nearly half of the respondents (7 of 16, or 44%), IT controls all spending on accessories and allocates these accessories to users from the stock.
