This Consult the Board survey summary features perspectives from 25 Gartner Research Board for Global CIOs members regarding their approaches to managing cloud usage costs. It highlights members’ cloud services’ funding model, cloud workload management, and policies governing cloud usage.
How are member organizations governing cloud usage to manage costs?
The majority of respondents (21 of 25, or 84%) use a tool to gain insight and manage cloud costs.
Most respondents (19 of 22, or 86%) prioritize their workloads in the cloud based on parameters such as their business priorities, business benefits, security controls, and project timelines.
Nearly half of the respondents (4 of 9) conduct reviews with stakeholders to set cloud budgets, promote transparency, and monitor cloud expenses as part of their policy governing cloud usage.
