Betsy Burton is a VP and Distinguished Analyst in the Enterprise Architecture team and leads research on business architecture and business capability modeling. Ms. Burton is actively involved in research on "The Future of EA" bridging the gap between strategy and execution and integrating business and IT. Previously, she was the Chief of Research for enterprise architecture, business process management, and program and portfolio management, Role Service Director for the Gartner Business Intelligence and Information Management product.
During her 21 years at Gartner, Ms. Burton has held a variety of research and leadership roles, including responsibility for defining Gartner research methodology (Vendor Ratings, MarketScopes and Magic Quadrants), lead analyst for Oracle and CA, research lead for collaboration, and research area director for the Database and Enterprise Management teams.
Prior to joining Gartner, Ms. Burton held product marketing, management and engineering positions at Borland International, Sybase, Santa Cruz Operations, Britton Lee and Digital Research. She was also an active member of numerous standards consortia, including ANSI, the SQL Access Group, X/Open and Open Software Foundation.
