Bob Hafner is a Managing Vice President in Gartner Research, leading a global team of analysts who cover the digital workplace. In addition to researching digital workplace programs, the team's focus also includes cloud office (such as Office 365 and Google Apps for Work), unified communications and collaboration (UCC), customer communication management, enterprise file synchronization and sharing (EFSS), enterprise content management (ECM), knowledge management, and search. Members of his team also lead Gartner's research on emerging smart machines. Mr. Hafner conducts research and advises clients on enterprise strategies to enable new, more effective ways of working; to raise employee engagement and agility; and that use consumer-oriented styles and technologies.
Previously Mr. Hafner was the Managing Vice President of the Mobile and Client Computing group. This team was focused on mobile devices, mobile applications, client computing hardware, tablets and operating systems. His own research focused on mobile strategy, bring your own device (BYOD) and mobile policy. Prior to this position, he managed the Communications Applications group, which focuses on IP telephony, unified communications and all aspects of mobile in the enterprise.

Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Hafner was employed by the Bank of Nova Scotia, where his responsibilities included network design, network and system performance, capacity planning, product evaluation, acquisition management and implementation.
