Earl Perkins is a Managing Vice President in the Adaptive Resilience, Trust and Risk Management team at Gartner. This team is responsible for business continuity and organization resilience, risk management, payments fraud prevention, identity proofing, antimoney laundering, email security and cyberphysical systems security.
Mr. Perkins has more than 43 years of IT, networking and security experience. He has worked in several industries, including education (mathematics), oil and gas, energy and utilities, software (Microsoft) and IT research and analysis. Much of his career has been focused on planning, building and operating networks, as well as software and system development, integration and security. He has been recognized for achievements in designing, deploying and securing networks and systems for four corporations (two U.S.-based and two international) and managing IT restructurings. Prior to joining Gartner, he held Director position at Microsoft in market research, as well as VP and Senior Director positions in network, security and risk strategies at the IT research firm Meta Group (acquired by Gartner in 2005). He also held IT management and technical roles at Entergy, an electric utility based in New Orleans, and Senior Manager positions at London Energy in London, England. Since joining Gartner, he has served in multiple security research teams: identity and access management, cloud & IoT security, the IoT Group, and risk and security management programs.
