Eric Maiwald covers infrastructure security, where he advises clients on technical controls (such as firewalls, NAC and intrusion detection) and on overall security architecture. He has more than 30 years of experience in information security as a security engineer, security officer, consultant and analyst.
Mr. Maiwald has served as a security administrator and security officer for large enterprises and as a security consultant for clients in healthcare, finance, entertainment, retail, and manufacturing. He led an effort to develop a managed security service offering and then managed the service for clients in various industries. He also served as a product manager in the IT security industry.
Mr. Maiwald is the author of three books on security: "Network Security: A Beginner's Guide," "Security Planning and Disaster Recovery" and "Fundamentals of Network Security."
Mr. Maiwald is a named inventor on patent numbers 5,577,209, Apparatus and Method for Providing Multi-level Security for Communications Among Computers and Terminals on a Network; 5,872,847, Using Trusted Associations to Establish Trust in a Computer Network; 5,940,591, Apparatus and Method for Providing Network Security; and 6,212,636, Method for Establishing Trust in a Computer Network via Association.
