As a Leadership Partner, Hank Marquis is a coach and trusted advisor to CIO, CTOs and their direct reports in Global 2000 organizations and large government agencies. Mr. Marquis assists in developing strategies, establishing priorities and planning for key IT initiatives. He helps clients achieve their goals quickly and cost-effectively.
Hank joined the EITL I&O Team after being a Gartner Research Agenda Manager, Event Chair, and Sr Director Analyst covering I&O Leadership Strategies and prior to that IT tools. He helps IT leaders move to product-oriented delivery by aiding on leadership, operating models, organization designs, capabilities, maturity, people and culture topics. He has 35+ years IT experience with CEO, CIO and CTO roles -- including founding and selling several IT tools firms, including AI/ML based help desk and monitoring tools, as well as SaaS cloud evaluation and IT customer experience SaaS platforms. He has published multiple books on IT service management and software development, wrote the ITIL Service Catalog study guide, and is a reviewer and contributor to its Service Strategy book.
Before joining Gartner, Mr. Marquis was Cloud Practice Director for Global Knowledge, where he consulted with senior IT and technology vendor leaders worldwide on the effects of digital on IT. At retailer Lowes, he was Sr Director of Infrastructure and Service Architecture, and Director of IT service transition. Hank also held the roles of Central Office Manager at MCI, Sr. Network Engineer at Sprint, and Sr Systems Engineer for NET and Timeplex. Hank's specialties include Product Development and Delivery, Service Management, Strategic Planning, Customer Experience Management, Cloud, DevOps, Organization Design, and Leadership Development. He holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership, is a U.S. Army Signal Corps veteran (121st Signal Battalion, 1st Infantry Division [Mechanized]; and USACC Panama) Fellow of the BCS and a Chartered IT professional.
