Jack Santos is a Research Vice President with Gartner, part of the Enterprise Architecture and Technology Innovation team within the Gartner for IT Leaders product. He focuses on enterprise architecture and technology trends where his research covers organizations starting or restarting their EA practice in order to Build a World Class EA Capability. The scope of starting/restarting an EA practice includes individual development, leadership and management practices for enterprise architects, EA innovation, and collaboration approaches.
Before taking on a leadership position in Enterprise Architecture research for Gartner, Mr. Santos was a Research VP (and Agenda Manager) with Gartner for Technology Professionals (GTP), and managed and contributed to the Professional Effectiveness agenda in GTP.
Before joining Gartner, Mr. Santos held several CIO and technology (including EA) leadership positions in the financial services and healthcare markets. His focus was IT strategy, systems development, application architecture, and business technology planning.
He performed duties as VP and CIO at Magellan Associates, providing interim CIO services to IT organizations in need of realignment. Prior to Magellan Associates, Mr. Santos served at Catholic Medical Center as VP and CIO, where he was responsible for implementing computing infrastructure, clinical applications and architecture, as well as developing wireless infrastructure. He was also an enterprise technology officer for Liberty Mutual Group, and he has led IT groups within financial services, software and public-sector advisory organizations (firms such as Aetna, Kaiser Permanente and Bowstreet Software).
Mr. Santos has been honored with Computerworld's Premier 100 CIO award, has presented at numerous IT and business conferences, and has chaired the eCoast Technology Roundtable (an economic development effort by the Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce in New Hampshire).
