Practice Vice President

Jose Ruggero is Practice Vice President for the CIO Leadership of Information and Technology Practice focused on the CIO role, and the CIO as a functional leader. As most executive roles continue to evolve, the CIO role is no exception: With evolution, comes increased expectations. This practice develops expert guidance and insights to help CIOs address their most pressing challenges and to help them make faster, smarter decisions on their most critical priorities. The practice covers the key topics the CIO relies on to drive an effective enterprise-wide function focusing on: Leadership, Culture, DEI, The Economics of IT. Strategy, Execution, Organization and the IT workforce for midsize, large and global enterprises. Mr. Ruggero was most recently the Practice Vice President for the Midsize Enterprise Practice, preceded by a role as the Managing Vice President for the ERP and Enterprise Applications Research team. Prior to that, he was the head of Gartner's Executive Programs business, firstly in the APAC region, and then in the Americas and Japan. During that time Mr. Ruggero also worked with selected clients on building high performance teams and developing IT principles in the Americas, Latin America and Europe

Previous experience

Prior to to joining Gartner, Mr. Ruggero worked with GE Capital IT Solutions, an enterprise delivering IT services including; hardware, software, training, networking, system management, application development, facilities management and outsourcing solutions. During that time he was the general manager of Australia's largest national payroll and HR outsourcing services. He began his career in the IT department of a P&C insurance company in what was then known as automatic data processing (ADP).
