Lowell Shulman

VP Analyst

Lowell Shulman is a Research Vice President within Gartner's Technology & Service Provider Research group. As part of the Quantitative Innovation team, he is responsible for helping set strategic direction and priorities for T&SP market coverage.

Previously, he was Managing Vice President in the T&SP Product Management team responsible for managing global analysts that explore technology and IT services trends and disruptors to provide focused insights and advise to product management teams. Prior to that, he performed as a Research Director within the Data Center Infrastructure Strategies (DCIS) team in the Gartner for Technology Professionals (GTP) group covering enterprise storage software and data protection/recovery topics with a focus on backup and disaster recovery.

Mr. Shulman has 30 years of experience in the IT industry, with broad knowledge in multiple infrastructure domains across architectural, engineering and operational disciplines. He has performed in a variety of IT roles from engineering/operations management to vendor product management, sales and consulting positions.

Previous experience

Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Shulman was responsible for managing data center and network services for Bridgewater Associates, a large financial management firm.

He was also Director, Technical Product Management for Symantec (Veritas), where he was responsible for developing/executing programs in support of storage management and high-availability solutions. He started his career at IBM, where he held a variety of positions, from Programmer to Unix (AIX) Field Sales Specialist before starting consulting practices for IBM/Tivoli partners.
