Dr. Nasir Sheikh advises R&D and Product Leaders in emerging technologies using advanced methodologies such as decision modeling, strategic roadmapping, and AI-based computational modeling. He addresses complex challenges with uncertain outcomes and low clarity so that industry leaders can be more confident of their decisions.
Current Biography:
Dr. Sheikh has over 40 years of experience covering industry and academia. Prior to joining Gartner, he was a tenured Associate Professor and Chair in the Department of Technology Management at University of Bridgeport. Dr. Sheikh was a founding tenure-track faculty in the Department of Technology and Society, College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at The State University of New York (SUNY), Korea from 2013 to 2017. SUNY Korea is a campus of The State University of New York at Stony Brook. He taught courses on entrepreneurship, intrapreneurship, leadership, strategy, decision making, computer networking, marketing, technology assessment, data science, and quality management. He has taught 30 graduate, undergraduate, and executive level courses. His research includes technological innovation and commercialization, technology assessment, decision modeling, strategic planning, policy analysis, agent-based modeling and simulation, and analytics and has over 45 publications. He has graduated 6 PhDs and many MS students. Dr. Sheikh also has 35 years of industry experience in building global information and communications technologies (ICT) businesses as an executive in technology management, sales, and marketing. He has served in business leadership roles at Atlas Telecom, UshaComm, CenterSpan Communications, and ACD Systems. Prior to that Dr. Sheikh had technology management and operational roles at AT&T Labs, NorTel, Philips Electronics, and Schlumberger. And he was engaged in management consulting on next-generation renewal energy and healthcare technologies.
