Richard Jones is the Group Vice President for the Gartner Technical Professionals (GTP) Research and Advisory organization. He covers a number of topics at a high level across the GTP teams. Mr. Jones brings 35 years of experience in technical analysis, engineering, and product and project management in the software industry.
Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Jones was service director for Burton Group's cloud and data center strategies services, responsible for managing the virtual cloud team, as well as building and maintaining a team of five analysts and launching the data center strategies service in 2007. Prior to Burton Group, he held R&D director-level positions at Novell across nearly all product lines, including SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, storage, high availability, business continuity, identity management, printing, desktop management and Microsoft Windows integration technologies. Mr. Jones is a top-rated speaker at industry events, and he has patents granted/pending in business continuity, storage, systems and identity management.
