Samuel Tuan Wang is a Research Vice President for semiconductor foundries, the semiconductor supply chain and other related areas on Gartner's Semiconductor Manufacturing team within the Technology and Service Provider Research group. He writes primarily to product management executives.
Mr. Wang has been executives of various semiconductor companies leading the effort of R&D, marketing/sales, operation and technology development for over 40 years and is familiar with the supply/demand dynamics of the chip industry. In the early days of his career with Hughes Aircraft and Intel, he obtained various patents on the research and development projects on nonvolatile memories and wrote some classical technical papers on floating-gate devices.
Mr. Wang was the founder of International CMOS Technology, a fabless company specializing in the design and manufacture of EEPROM, EPROM and PLD. During his 10-year tenure at International CMOS Technology, he held the position of Executive VP of Technology.
Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Wang was President of SMIC Americas, where he successfully built a sales team from nothing, generating $900 million in revenue in 2009 for SMIC, the largest wafer foundry based in China.
