Microgrids
Microgrids are small-scale, low-voltage power systems with distributed energy sources, storage devices and controllable loads. They are operated connected to the main power network or “islanded” in a controlled, coordinated way. The operation of microgrids offers advantages to customers and utilities by improving energy efficiency, reducing transmission and distribution losses, improving reliability, reducing environmental impact, improving network operational benefits and providing more cost-efficient electricity infrastructure replacement.
