KFC is spicing up the holidays with its new sweepstakes. 

The fried chicken chain has debuted eleven KFC gifts inspired by the eleven herbs and spices as part of the brand’s #SecretSanders sweepstakes. For the first time, KFC will also be releasing limited-edition holiday buckets to coincide with the sweepstakes. Each bucket illustration will include a gift image, such as a Colonel Santa suit, a Colonel Nutcracker, or a Colonel Tree Topper for customers to find on the bucket. Fans can take a photo of their favorite bucket item illustration and upload it to Instagram with the hashtags #SecretSanders and #Entry to take part in the digital sweepstakes. 

This new social media sweepstakes comes a year after KFC debuted its #KFCxHumanMade streetwear collection with all fried chicken-themed products. The hashtag ended up being the eighth most engaging Instagram campaign of the year, according to a Gartner L2 report on the topic. But will the brand’s new holiday campaign the same hype as last year’s promotion? 

This year, KFC recruited children’s book illustrator Nicholas John Frith to design the holiday buckets. Though the brand has released holiday-themed containers since the 1970’s, this year’s edition will be the first original illustrations. Customers have until December 22 to snag a bucket and enter the #SecretSanders competition for a chance to win an exclusive KFC-themed prize. 

KFC is joining the ranks of other brands releasing on-theme collections for the holidays. The restaurant chain has spent the past year ramping up its social media efforts and its latest sweepstakes certainly seems like  the star on top of the chicken-fried tree.
