In my experience, the bigger multi-cloud driver is cost reduction/effectiveness, where you run the proper workloads in the best cloud solution for that workload. Local or regional regions (data centres) that can decrease the latency. A feature that you need or availability of technology integrations.
I often see a great solution that is only available on AWS but not fully on Azure and not supported at all on GCP.

It’s good to think about lock in when adopting any technology, but it’s so dominant when mentioning cloud that it overshadows discussion of many valuable multi-cloud strategies.
