It is close between recruitment and retention.CIO in Software, 1,001 - 5,000 employees
I said “other” because my real answer is both recruitment and retention. Recruitment is just going to become a continuous bottleneck if you cannot retain your people. Given the current IT market, recruiting has enough on their plates already…Director in Manufacturing, 1,001 - 5,000 employees
I would lean towards retention. Several reasons 1. Hiring now is extremely competitive and our company only pays average salaries
2. If you do hire someone it takes months to really get them productive in roles that need 5 or 10 years of experience. We outsource all junior level work, or at least most of it Senior roles have business relationship aspects which take time to develop
3. Our firm is very slow to approve head count. Even if it was to fill a role someone quit. The first expectations are you operate without someone in the role for months to see if you can absorb the work and reduce costs
