speaking from my experience, Millennial's and leadership don't mix. They are selfish, inward looking, and generally bad teammates that don't take criticism very well. Patience and understanding of anyone else's viewpoint but theirs is non-existent.

Millennial brings fresh perspective, risk taking ability and curious mindset. This does not mean other generations lack these traits, with changing time professionals are also evolving with their characteristics.

I think of this in the context of diversity, my view is to have a high performing team, you need a diverse mix, including young leadership.  Generalising of course, but I find a person under 30 generally brings energy, enthusiasm, optimism, engagement, self interest, emotional responses, current trends, ideas outside/challenging the organisational norm and can be a breath of fresh air if properly included and respected by  'the Elders'.  They also provide an opportunity to engage better with younger customers.

To broadly generalize about any group of people seems a little reductive, but I think that it is good hiring practice to seek diverse perspectives on all aspects of your business. Certainly leadership is a skill that is traditionally developed over time, but we are now at the point where some 'millennial' are well into their 30's, have held significant roles in organizations and are ready to lead for the first time or in a larger capacity than they may have in the past. 

Focus on hiring good people and bringing in diverse perspectives that add to the strength of the organization.
