We've started adopting GenAI in many applications to reduce user clicks and produce solutions quickly. In 2025, I'm excited to see tools that propose new architectural designs for efficiency. Platforms like AWS or GCP might offer solutions to understand current architectures and propose improvements. For instance, AWS recently introduced a new data platform, and we immediately began analyzing how to use it to improve throughput. These proposals can significantly enhance the technical framework and benefit the developer community.

I recently tried the self-driving feature in my Tesla, and it was a revelation. Autonomous technology is likely to be a trend next year, along with quantum computing, which will aid in cryptography, drug discovery, and optimization problems. Extended reality, like AR and VR, will also become mainstream, impacting education, healthcare, and enterprise training. While these technologies may not achieve the same consumer-centric visibility as GenAI, their impact could be significant in specific industries.

I think there's a lot to explore with AI, especially at the edge. For those of us building enterprise software, the ability to find opportunities and quickly enable these is exciting. I also see an expansion of vendor tools and ecosystems that we can leverage to make systems more resilient. There's so much across tech that's exciting to explore, whether we build, buy, or integrate.

Many enterprises have started adopting GenAI, and while it may not have reached its peak, there's still scope for growth. As a data engineer, I see a lot of opportunity in data standardization, governance, and quality. With data growing exponentially, it has become the backbone of every industry. New solutions in these areas, like open telemetry, which we have started adopting, will help organizations improve and reduce restoration times for applications and services.

In many ways, Generative AI has disrupted industries, especially technology. Developers and programmers are now comfortable with auto-generating code snippets and creating baseline solutions. The interest in GenAI this past year has been enormous, even surpassing the likes of blockchain when it was a key trend. As we move into 2025, I don't think it's about new shiny tools or technologies. Instead, it's about maximizing the value of AI and empowering teams to leverage GenAI ethically. The trend will shift from understanding generative AI to governing, protecting, and controlling its ethical use. Many organizations have been grappling with this, and vendors are changing to address it. Looking ahead, I believe intelligent apps with AI components will become more predominant.
