The pros are obvious - rapid digitization, ubiquitous connectivity, AI to the edge (eg Tesla) etc. The challenges/cons would be “security”. Traditional “device security through EDR” approach doesn’t work. Some of the IoTs are designed in a hurry (time/cost pressure) without much regards for “security” and this may have implications without boundaries (Eg - Roomba like vacuum cleaner leaking private photos). Consumers and businesses are quick to justify the need for IOTs but often ignore complimentary need for investment in security gears.
