I’ve done it at a few companies across many states/countries. Recommend:1. Weekly video 1x1’s. Don’t just talk work (what have u done/up next) but also how they’re doing and how you can help them be successful.
2. Weekly Team meetings. I used to call these “Staff” but changed it to “Team” since you want to demonstrate you’re in it together - shared wins and losses.
3. Team Building - quarterly at an offsite, ideally coupled with quarterly planning objectives (eg Release Planning if it’s a Product Team).
4. Reinforced Communication - video always on unless bandwidth is an issue. Always share screen on slides / pages, and take notes. By sharing screening on notes at a minimum at the end of a group meeting, you reinforce oral conversation with visual written action items and owners.
5. Overcommunicate - Slack and email reinforce meeting discussions and key takeaways / actions / owners.
I have several other tips, but this post is too long already :)
