Is there a skill set overlap between the research and startup spaces?
Chief Technology Officer in Services (non-Government), 2 - 10 employees
There is a lot of overlap between the research and startup spaces. I've found that a PhD is one of the few degrees that gives you the kind of broad and deep skill set you need in a startup, especially early on. But when I first joined a startup after doing research, I also felt that I didn't have some of the skill sets I needed around sales and marketing.Director of IT in Education, 501 - 1,000 employees
actually there have skill overlaped, especially related to analysis you have to learn excel again but advance excel, and also spss and mathlab if you are in advance skill. Senior Director Of Engineering in Services (non-Government), 51 - 200 employees
I definitely think there is overlap, you have to be analytical, curious and a critical thinker who can quickly adapt to change in both realms. Content you might like
