We are in the middle of a modernization process of our monolith core application (banking) that is based on Informix and aiming to replace 4GL codes with Java, and create a multi tier architecture at the same time. For peers who have successfully migrated from Informix database, what was your strategy (port, transform, rewrite, replace)? How did you get rid of your 4GL codes (we have 1+ million lines) Have you used any tool to transform your 4GL codes to your targeted programming language?
