How do you scale your outsourcing business or remote sourcing division?

The answer to this starts and ends with the customer, what do your customers need, what problems do they have, and how can you help them solve those problems. That has to be the core of your business and growth strategy.

Hyperautomation can be a cost effective way of scaling the business.  Look to automate before adding more resources.

What is the objective behind outsourcing? We need to understand the outsourcing business from the core. The main objective of outsourcing is cost reduction and that too at a process or team level. This means if you have to scale the outsourcing business with the same customer you have to show continuous cost-saving, which can only happen through revenue cannibalization. By doing so you would look like an extended arm for your client that value their objective of cost reduction and in turn you may get additional work from other teams from the same company. A happy client becomes your voice also and may help you get more business as a reference. There is plenty of outsourcing scope out in the market and revenue cannibalization is not going to cost you for a long time.

Like the comments below - necessity is the mother of al invention. Further; find the things that your client considers as non-core and they will happily part with it. WORD OF CAUTION! You cannot outsource something that is broken! Make sure that your client is clear on what the system or solution looks like when it is working as expected. Define good service and also make sure that your client invests the correct resources to manage and monitor progress. I found that outsourcing often fails because the client is not clear on, or reminded of the value that you add.

The other part to scaling is the how you expand the company internally, maximising your resource usage, ensuring you have enough resource to meet your customer needs, when it is needed. Which with the current market for talent is getting more difficult.

Get you bench force(team members without project) do these things -> Actvily making your team memebers attend and talk in confrenences. -> Building reusable components/services which you can readly use for your client which would save them time to deliver. Make these open source projects. -> Establish your expertise in your field of work by Helping people in community(Stack overflow, etc). I feel all these can be done by your bench force.  The idea is to put your free resources to use and get business.
