It was just reported today that a second city in Florida had to pay ransom to hackers. How are your companies making sure this doesn't happen to you? 

1) Regularly test your backups, be ready to restore any impacted files from a known good backup. Restoration of your files from a backup is the fastest way to regain access to your data. 2) Content scanning and filtering on mail servers. 3) Inbound emails scanned for known threats. 4) Blocking any attachment types that could pose a threat. 5) Use DKIM, SPF, DEMARC.             6) All systems and software are up-to-date with relevant patches.            7) Using reputable antivirus software and a firewall.  Privacy and security training company wide.

This is a result of lack of technical expertise and not performing adequate audit reviews, including good corporate governance.
