What was the easiest high-impact solution you’ve ever implemented?

For the last several years, I've been a consultant with multiple organizations, primarily helping with the effectiveness of IT and digital transformation. One of my customers was a big knowledge process outsourcing company in the US, and I helped them save almost 30% of their annual budget just by asking simple questions like, "Why do you have this, and what are you doing with it?"

Things become easy the moment organization is eagerly awaiting the solution which relieves them of severe difficulties that they are undergoing in business.  The organisation that i was working with found it very difficult to monitor and manage their suppliers capacities.  A solution was developed and deployed with participation from all concerned thereby making life easy.  Today technology is not difficult but managing conflicting priorities and inter personal relations is becoming difficult

One where the areas of the business it impacts really want it, they know what they want, they are prepared to commit the resource needed, and there is a real tangible saving for doing it.

I was working for an insurance company and we implemented instant Certificates of Insurance  we were doing about 50 a day at the time. Once implemented the volume increased tenfold in a matter of days as the fix went viral internally!  (On of our developers wrote the code on the train on the way home in about an hour  - so minimal effort)  The lesson was that there may be hidden demand to satisfy customers at almost no cost but the business system design is stopping it from happening. The result was both happy customers and staff. ! We didn't know until we investigated but the call centre hated doing this as it was manual print the certificate (from a mainframe system ) and then go and scan it. They - didn't have time as it would impact their call handling statistics would do just about anything not to do it.

AI algorithms that increased productivity and improved customer service at my company.  The products were easy to implement and made an immediate impact on our workflow.

This was late 2011, but I implemented OneLogin's SSO solution across the Enterprise myself over Xmas break. Feedback was absolutely amazing. A few years later at a very large Enterprise (15k employees) I replaced Concur's expense reporting solution with Coupa and several Execs actually hugged me.

Easiest high-impact solution I’ve ever implemented was Microsoft Team for our K-12 school during COVID lockdown.   Microsoft Teams became our hub; students and teachers open Microsoft Teams and collaborate quickly and easily. We looked at other solutions like Zoom but Zoom didn’t offer email addresses for our users or a cloud storage solution like Microsoft OneDrive.

Relatively easy software piece that we implemented for data engineers to help to  moderate/sync across/healtcheck. Was written in  2 weeks, implemented ever since, sped up the operations 3 times, impacted  in multiplying 10 fold the speed of data assembly

The easiest high impact solution I ever implemented was replacing a manual drafting system with auto-cad. replacing a manual system with a automated system is harder to find these days but there is still some low hanging systems out there ready to be replaced.

Changing our license model to be more site-based than user-based has helped expand overall usage as well as client “investment” in our product. Reaching more users at each site means that more users have grown to depend on the products, which has lead to increased retention.

DUO MFA was rather large in the number of people it affected, but also rather simple to implement. Nothing like getting that first MFA text on your phone once you get it up and running.  I do a lot of IT work in the healthcare sector and also through my own side owned company.  ManageEngine products have been very helpful in auditing requirements for SOC 2 / HITRUST.  Important not to forget about Teams either or whatever solution you use.  We implemented that and sharepoint right before Covid hit and was so essential for remote workers and still plays a huge part in our functioning to this day.

If you are in a smaller organization such as 200 employees or less Trend Micro has PhishInsight and it's compeletly free to implement.  Comes with templates for phishing emails and then training videos as well.  Very nice system for free, I was amazed.   Biggest work invested with that was creating rules in Office 365 to allow the testing emails through without being quarantined.  But as for bang for your buck this was really great.

Perhaps this is counter intuitive but removing ineffective or toxic individuals from teams or projects has probably been the thing that is (relatively) simple to do and had the biggest impact.

I just implemented 20+ bots using RPA and achieves a ROI of 1.2 million in less than a year. It’s one of the most successful project that helped business to improve their operations.

Implemented the Atlassian products and suite to our software development process. We had been using a combination of disparate tools and systems to develop applications and despite the time/cost/effort of migrating away, having the full suite of tools all with 1 providers with a huge marketplace of add ons has ultimately increased profitability and efficiency across the organisation. Main lesson i got... migration and change management will cause pain... but if you stick with it the results will be worthwhile

Implemented a digital solution as a response to the Pandemic in Mar 2020. It wasn’t the easiest but the quickest (implemented in less than a month) that had a huge impact on our Customers, Distributors, and Operations. As the saying goes, we didn’t let a good crisis go to waste.

Easy and high impact rarely go together in my experience.  That said, I find that simple reporting tools to identify and optimize "waste" (whether on-premise, cloud, SaaS, etc.) are often very quick and easy to onboard and integrate - and the results of the data they provide often provide very clear actions that save actual $$ or provide cost avoidance. Not the most visionary of topics, but anything that can quickly impact bottom line is usually a good thing.

IT Security Training Videos from Ninjio....configuration & set up was done in 2 hours, but the impact and self awerness was extremly high with a good user feedback. And helps in your dailie work if the users know more about cyber security.
