The markets/categories I am in are not listed on Gartner Peer Insights. What markets/categories are opening next?

Our goal is to expand Gartner Peer Insights to cover many more markets/categories. We will continue to roll out new markets/categories in a controlled fashion. The list of markets/categories currently open for review is available here. You can suggest a new category to be opened on Peer Insights by submitting this suggestion form. Your suggestion will then be evaluated by the Peer Insights team.

Today if there are products or services that do not fit within an existing market/category, then we may add these products to broad “Other” classifications. However, Vendors can still be denied for inclusion in these broad classifications if they don’t meet Gartner Peer Insights criteria for serving mid to large-size enterprise customers.

What is Gartner Peer Insights Customer Choice?

What is Gartner Peer Insights product audit activity?

Gartner Peer Insights product audit activity is the periodic process for reviewing a technology provider’s product/ service offering alignment to the Gartner Peer Insights markets/categories.

Gartner market/category definitions are continuously evolving and Gartner Peer Insights markets/categories are periodically reviewed to ensure alignment is maintained. As a part of product audit activity, a dedicated Gartner Peer Insights team uses a set of criteria for evaluating if a technology provider’s products and/or services align with the Gartner Peer Insights market/category definitions.

For final determination if a product or service fits in a Gartner Peer Insights market, the following criteria are considered for Vendors’ products or services:

  • The product or service must have all capabilities described as “mandatory” in the categories or markets (as defined in Magic Quadrant or Market Guide research documents). If no capabilities are described specifically as “mandatory,” the product/service must have 50% or more of all other features or capabilities enumerated in the market definition and description
  • The Vendor must sell to mid to large-size enterprise clients. We do not include small business or consumer IT solutions since we are aligned to meet the needs of enterprise buyers.

Today if there are products or services that do not fit within an existing market/category then we may add these products to broad “Other” classifications. However, Vendors can still be denied for inclusion in these broad classifications if they don’t meet Gartner Peer Insights criteria for serving mid to large-size enterprise customers.

If the product has already been placed in any market/category, they cannot also be placed in a broad “Other” classification.

How do I get my requests reconsidered?

If your request is not approved, the first step is to view the request details on the request tracker. There will be next steps outlined to take if you do not agree with the decision. Why was my product aligned to the “Others” classification? Will this alignment restrict my product experience with Peer Insights?

If there are products or services that do not meet the minimum criteria to be included in a Gartner Peer Insights market/category, then we may align these products to one of the 13 broad market “Other” classifications subject to the condition that the vendor meets Gartner Peer Insights criteria for serving mid to large-size enterprise customers.

Products that are listed for review within the “others” classifications are open for your customers to contribute reviews similar to any other product listed on Gartner Peer Insights. You are still able to access the Technology Providers Tool, and leverage these reviews in sales conversations and for your marketing materials.

Because “others” classifications include products that are not directly comparable in terms of capabilities, we do not offer the “Alternatives” or “Comparison” tools for these products. Similarly, we do not offer a Market/Category view page for any “others” classification.

What does “On-Hold” status mean for a request?

“On-Hold” status means that your product has been approved for addition to the requested market/category, but the market/category is temporarily “closed” for any new additions due to an ongoing Customers’ Choice. Your product will go live on the Gartner Peer Insights website for review on the communicated date i.e. when the Customers’ Choice sourcing period ends.
