    First rate support and service, growing abilities in scanning technology.

    Overall Comment

    Vontu is a very robust product with feature rich capabilities. Their EDM policies are second to none. It will take time to get the false positive rate down, and coupled with data classification it is a very successful program.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Ensure you understand what data you are concerned about and have a data classification policy that is blessed by the board.

    ability to search and combine several searches to create a very specific alert.

    integrate technology to understand the content of data better.

    Symantec DLP will provide you data about your content are you ready to respond.

    Solution is working and helping our company identify educational opportunities. It is also providing data for targeted control measures. The system generates a lot of data which requires third party reporting tools to perform advanced analysis.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Include business SMEs early and keep them engaged. DLP can be seen as a hindrance to your business if not accepted as a necessity.

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    System is stable and works as advertises.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    Reporting, dealing with individual events is one thing. Using the data to identify trends is much more labor intensive.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    There is not a lot of technical consultancy available from Symantec had to rely on other third party vendors.

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    Plan for better reporting tools to take advantage of the event data generated. Think about how DLP will be connected to other parts of the infrastructure that will be used to secure data from loss (quarantine & encryption).

    Research & proof of technology - choose top 2 then negotiate with vendors.

    Cost effective & lack of effort to deploy.

    Lack of features/functions.

    Broader proof of technology & vendor services.

    Great start, resources diminished once implementation was complete.

    Overall Comment

    Symantec was able to help us get everything deployed quickly and efficiently. It was a large deployment with about 12 different servers so we needed some extra assistance. Resources to our account team have been diminished since the implementation though

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Make sure you have a good line of communication with the Symantec team and make sure you keep the communication lines open. Once the communication lines cease, it is very hard to get your account team back into the mix.

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    I do like its ease of use.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    I do not like how kludgy the dashboard is. We needed to integrate spunk with the data feeds to get a full spectrum of our DLP data.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    Provided much more assistance with product questions.

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    I would do a hybrid model instead of all on prem.

    Technical support is fine, product support questions is much more questionable.

    The agents need to be at the version - 2 versions behind the product, which may be a problem if you are doing an upgrade.

    Experience was a bit tricky, needed to understand backend thoroughly. Could not do it internally as much as we hoped. Overall the implementation was easy to learn.

    Always require and build into the support cost an on-sight engineer for best value of product integration.

    Develop different means for communicating the possibilities and potential risk avoidance the product would provide.
