Hyland OnBase

Implementation went well, but need better post implementation planning

The project was designed in several phases. The initial phase was one of basic replacement of an existing document management system. The second phase is on going which is an integration with an existing application/document management system. The goal is to replace the internal document management system of Computronix POSSE framework with the Hyland product. The vision is an enterprise document management system. I am pleased with the overall implemenation. A negative is the planned long term maintenance of the system, monitoring, storage management, etc. This could be seen as a customer responsibility, but it should have been an integral part of the implemenation and was not.

Resources worked well for our internal team, to resolve the issue and complete task on schedule.

Expensive but worth it in the end.

The vendor will work with the customer to customize the installation and use of the product. Extraordinarily expensive to complete projects. Everything provided is licensed. A la carte provides both an advantage (buy what you need) and a disadvantage, each decision leads to additional licensing expenses.

Instant impact with seemingly limitless capabilities.

OnBase has worked extremely well for us. While it has continued to improve our workflow efficiencies we are still learning every day at other capabilities the program has. Hyland is constantly coming up with new additions to the software that continue to impress us.

Shortcomings in knowing their own product

Hyland is a good company but they lack internal experise on the product we purchased and that lack of knowledge within their organzation began to show during implementation. The reason for purchasing from Hyland was their confidence in their product but when it came to them really knowing their OCR product and how to pull data had serious shortcomings.

Great implementation team, could use some additional experience in third party integration

Knowledgeable vendor, some aspects of integration could be improved upon especially with regard to integrating workflow with third party imaging systems such as PACS systems.

Great system, implementations/upgrades smooth, premium education should be included, no $.

The implementations and upgrades were well planned out on both the vendor and internal side. Have great working relationship with vendor and vendor supplies multiple tools for users and troubleshooting. They stick with customer until resolution of issue is reached. Overall end-user friendly application. Have recommended to other facilities in area. Vendor also supplies educational tools. The only thing I would like to see regarding the educational tools online is their premium subscription pricing should be included/free to current long-standing customers and their system adminstrators, this is a service that has to be paid for separately and should be included in the SAs, etc.
