With relative well established processes for project and portfolio management we were looking for a tool to move us from excel and basic sharepoint to a more integrated and automated platform. PowerSteering provided an easy to configure platform and with just 2 days of on site analysis the consultant built an 80% solution which was finalised at another 2 day session. All in all a very fast track implementation taking less than 6 weeks. From there we moved to a more slow pace and improved and developed the solution. A down side was the need for vendor assistance in creating custom reports.
start with a lean requirement specification - a minimum viable solution - and build your solution in sprints on top of that.
eas to configure and yet a very strong feature set
weak reporting - meaning you need to use the vendor to build custom reports
they should have placed us on the euopean site from start
We would look more into the output capabilities, reporting etc.

Eclipse has been outstanding to work with. Our trainer/installer was outstanding. She knows the product very well and knows project management. She is very accommodating and willing to help us well after the initial installation. When we have questions, she responds to Email promptly and will take the time to do ad-hoc web conferences to help us with additional configurations / questions.
Choose Eclipse! It is very flexible and comprehensive. While we have not yet gotten to resource management, it has everything we will need to do this.
Ease of use/intuitiveness.
Nothing. The software is solid/bug-free. The training is outstanding. And our customer happiness executive meets with us quarterly to check in on our progress and schedules web conferences with other clients.
We need a dedicated project portfolio manager with the PMO to lead the charge. We do not have this role. We have the portfolio loaded but are having difficulty getting senior leadership to buy into prioritizing the portfolio so that we can ease the burden on the resource managers.
the support desk answers requests the same day, usually within a couple of hours.
We are in the process of developing an API from PeopleSoft/AD to Eclipse to manage the additions, transfers, and terminations of employees and contractors. We will be looking at an API in the future to pull financial data into Eclipse.

On the surface, a good product with a lot of promise. However, it is not ready for prime time. We have put further expansion of its use beyond the initial team on hold, pending upland works to resolve a slew of "bugs" in the system.
If you are willing to take a risk which could reap the reward, sometimes going a new path is the way. However, prepare everyone for the risk.
The promise of an intuitive and useful dashboard for senior leaders and customers.
Bugginess of the product.
Focus of fixing the bugs and stabilizing the solution before adding more whiz bang add ons.
Find a more tried and true product. Implementation and adoption by the core team has been slow due to bugginess of system and unreliability.
It has been a much slower deployment than expected. There have been issues along the way with the system that derailed our timeline.
