    Simpana V11 upgrade and new hardware.

    Excellent service and planning, good engineer to assist with an upgrade to Ver 11.

    Vet the proposed architecture.

    CommVault professional services, technical support and product performance shines

    Overall Comment

    CommVault professional services organization is excellent and I can't think of any better overall experience I've had during a product implementation. Technical support is also outstanding. Product performs well and has taken our backup/recovery/archive processes and functionality to a new level.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    When looking at CommVault Simpana, you should be looking at some merging of backup/restore with archive and retention. Their story around a single content store that service both purposes and their vision of this future is what drove us to this solution.

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    Their world-class organization and the fact that their product just works and works as advertised.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    Nothing so far.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    I can't think of anything.

    The merging of backup/restore with archiving all in the same content store was a big factor in the decision to purchase Simpana.

    Commvualt's support teams have been very responsive and knowledgable.

    Dedup capabilities, policy management, the flexibility of storage targets, the rich offering of solution specific agents.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Purchase the 2-week resident site engineer consulting implementation package from Commvault direct.

    Richness and flexibility of the solution.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    Can't think of anything.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    Put their partner relationship before the end customer initially.

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    Deal directly with Commvault and not Dimension Data.

    Failed start through the 3rd Party Dimension Data. Went great after engaging Commvault directly.

    CommVault comes in to help backups, information retention, and disaster recovery

    Overall Comment

    Not often a product provides as advertised. Integration was successful to add the VMs and unstructured data. Drove discussions about business gains and less about configuration when setting client expectations.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Professional services helped us setup the right way initially. On our own we tend to look for "like for like" and that would have been a catastrophe.

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    It is reliable and effective. It makes our team more confident in information management where we are not fixing the machine, but talking about managing retentions.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    While it did improve our IT offering, to get there was an overhaul for our processes and internal skillset. We needed to get training and consultations with our stakeholders with a certain amount of ignorance. We needed to coordinate a lot with our integration vendor.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    The vendor could offer more help to assess our needs with us.

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    This was a new license model for our organization. Understanding how the new technologies are licensed and pre-planning for integration helped us better understand what we need to know going forward. We learned that you don't have to wait for the tool to begin this planning.

    Helpful as we manage and monitor our service. A reliable system usually but we have needed help. Things have worked out when called.

    Implementation was relatively easy but definitely requires training to fully comprehend.

    Good implementation, works as advertised but required additional training on our part to fully integrate the product.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Training and patience is a must.

    What do you like most about the product or service?

    Wide adoption and great support.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    Complex UI for less seasoned admins.

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    In 2016, I would implement cloud backup right from the start but that wasn't available at the time.

    Strong capabilities but at a cost.

    Product fine with VMWare. Costly based on our volumes. Have had issues with HyperV backup.

    What one piece of advice would you give other prospective customers?

    Really look at what data needs to be backed up. Make plans accordingly.

    Ease of use and solid monitoring tools.

    What do you dislike most about the product?

    Have had trouble with HyperV backups.

    What one thing do you wish the vendor did differently?

    nothing.

    If you could start over, what would your organization do differently?

    Look more at native storage backup options from NetApp and EMC.
