ZVR handles business continuity extremely well. An optional backup mechanism is available to shared and local network targets, though it is not a highlighted feature. While the built-in backup feature is adequate, users may want to pair ZVR with a secondary bare metal backup solution to protect the entire virtual host.

Zerto is a great easy to use application to transfer VMs from one datacenter to another.

Replication and backup processes work great. Compression and minimal data transfer makes it fairly tight data transfer. More hypervisor support would be welcome. Compared to SRM from vmware, it is much less fragile. The only place that could use a bit more help is communication of updates and compatibility.

Implementation of this product was very fast and easy. Just used phone support and product was installed and configured in about 1 hour in our environment.

Vendor was generally easy to work with. Support sometimes not as responsive as they could be.

We were in the process of implementing RecoverPoint and SRDF integration with VMware Site Recovery Manager. We continued to run into complexity issues with trying to implement these products together successfully. It became very apparent that the amount of FTE time to manage this solution would be more than we had. After using Gartner and talking with other healthcare facilities we settled on using Zerto. This has been one of the easiest products to implement that we have ever used, and yet it just worked. Right out of the box after a few hours we had the system up, running and a few test systems fully replicated. Then a few days later many of our production systems were fully replicated. We have now been able to do what we could never do before, actually test full failover of our systems. Also with the way Zerto works we don't have to constantly play the shell game with fixing the replication system if we need to expand VMs disks or change around datastores. When first looking into this solution I was hesitant that software could be as good as hardware replication. It has turned out to now be by far our preferred method. In fact, another nice thing is the source and target storage can be different, they do not have to be the same vendor at all.

Zerto is one of the very few software products that out of the box does exactly what the vendor claims. And that is very impressive. The rich API set makes integration with existing toolsets and dashboards very easy. The licensing model encourages broad enterprise implementaion, yet contols costs by requiring licenses only at ime of deployment. Licensing costs are easily covered via cost avoiidance in deployment by automating all remote site deployment. the time savings are typically several calendar weeks and as many as 200 manhours for typical applications. Additional cost avoidance comes from the simplicity of testing, and from using the operational support aspects of Zerto as a data mover, application cloning system, patch test sandbox, and other capabilities. For example, with adequate network bandwidth, a 4TByte Oracle instance was migrated between sites in about 4 hours, and was operational within less than a hour.

Zerto gave us the means to move to public cloud after the decision was made to move in that direction. They have been innovating and adding new capabilities release after release which has allowed us to offer more to businesses. The support personnel have been great and responsive to work with. Working with the company is like working with family. The atmosphere feels very close knit and supportive within. They listen to users and respond with updates and features requested by the user community - very few companies do this anymore.
